The Katamatite Lions Club had been preparing for the rodeo for six months, and all its members’ hard work paid off at the Muckatah Recreation Reserve on Saturday, January 3.
People had a ‘bucking’ good time, with various kids’ entertainment, food stalls, an open bar and musician Ray Macartney playing live music.
Katamatite Lions Club member Andrew Moffitt said that despite the hot weather, it was an “extremely good day”.
“We had a crowd that was way up on last year ... probably around the 2800 mark as well as over 250 competitors on the day,” he said.
The rodeo featured many trick riders who wowed the crowd, including fan-favourite Ellie Mazzocchi.
“I think that people very much appreciated that and the other cowboys and cowgirls, they put on a very good show,” Mr Moffitt said.
The event will help the Lions club continue its work in the Katamatite area, helping other clubs, sporting facilities and schools.
News photographer Rechelle Zammit was at the rodeo to capture all the action.
