Free clinics around Victoria will teach the tips and tricks you need to launch a boat and get out onto the water for an adventure.
Victorian Fisheries Authority CEO Travis Dowling said the sessions were run by the VFA’s Better Boating division with support from Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating Network leaders and external training providers.
“Backing down the ramp can be a challenge for boaters of all experience levels, so these clinics are a great way to get hands-on experience under the watchful eyes of experts.
“You’ll leave with knowledge that you can put into practice next time you hit the water so you can have a great start to a day fishing or boating,” Mr Dowling said.
Clinics will be available to all boaters (with separate free female-only sessions) at:
- Limeburners, Geelong, May 17
- Lake Wendouree, Ballarat, May 24
In March and May there will be free female-only sessions held in conjunction with the WIRFAB Network at Queenscliff on March 29 and Mornington on May 31.
The WIRFAB events at Queenscliff and Mornington will also include a free marine licence course, providing new female boaters with the opportunity to take their marine vessel licence test after getting guidance from experts on boating basics.
WIRFAB leader Michelle Brittain said even the most experienced boaters could benefit from these clinics.
“Different ramps, tides, weather and traffic conditions present their own challenges. It’s important that we keep learning and benefiting from the experience of others.”
Clinics are free, but bookings are essential.
