This innovative event was the idea of GraniteHill lifestyle co-ordinator Jess Broughton who was inspired after a visit to the MOVE Museum in Kialla, which had proved popular with GraniteHill Residential Aged Care Facility residents.
Ms Broughton worked with local motoring enthusiast Rob Asquith to bring the idea to fruition.
“We often see vintage cars in the visitor carpark at Euroa Health, and they are a popular topic of conversation, between residents and staff as they share memories of bygone days, that are certainly not the ‘flash cars’ we are more familiar with these days,” Ms Broughton said.
Motorbikes, cars and an old tractor were among the vehicles on show.
“We are grateful to Rob for putting the call out to locals to display their vehicles, and the turnout made the event a great success,” Ms Broughton said.
“Vehicle owners willingly displayed their pride and joy whilst listening to residents reminisce on the same car or motorbike (that) they or a family member owned.”
GraniteHill resident June Tweddle said a white MG brought back fond memories for her, while another resident, Ivor Brook, said, “the display was wonderful and the Nuffield 4/65 1968 tractor was a hit”.
Aged care manager Angela Marchant said the facility had more plans for similar events in the future.
