The Irrigated Cropping Council event will be held in Moama on Friday, July 21.
With a focus on ‘flexible, resilient irrigated systems’, the conference aims to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration within the irrigated agriculture industries of grains, cotton, rice and dairy.
Program highlights include a session on navigating our changing climate with keynote speakers John Clarke from CSIRO, Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder Dr Simon Banks, Dale Grey from Agriculture Victoria, Andrew Shields from Goulburn-Murray Water and Deep Singh from NSW DPIE.
Other sessions provide insights on optimising irrigated farm systems, sustainable soils and AgTech with keynote speakers Damian Jones from Irrigated Cropping Council, Rohan Brill from Brill Ag, Dr Cassandra Schefe from AgriSci and Mark Sloan from Agriculture Victoria.
Local farmers will also share insights into their farm businesses and how they are managing for changing conditions.
The day will finish off with an inspiring story from local farmer Luke Barlow.
“Running a farm business is hectic,” Mr Barlow said.
“But doing a three-day ultra-endurance triathlon comprising a 10km swim and 421km ride and a double marathon 84.3km is next level.”
He shares his story about their farm business and his mission to encourage others to improve their health and wellbeing.
"We are excited to bring together a diverse range of experts and stakeholders to discuss the issues and opportunities in irrigated agriculture," Irrigated Cropping Council executive officer Charlie Aves said.
"The Irrigation Insights Conference aims to foster knowledge exchange and empower attendees with practical insights to optimise their farming practices in an evolving landscape," she said.
The event’s sponsors will be on-site in the trade area, creating an opportunity for delegates to catch up with people about the latest varieties, irrigation systems, agtech and a whole range of products and services.
It will be held from 9am to 5pm at the Rich River Golf Club, Moama.
Tickets are $80 for members and $90 for non-members. To learn more about the conference and secure your spot, visit: www.irrigatedcroppingcouncil.com.au
