From the Murray River and its inland beaches to Barmah National Park, home to the world’s largest red gum forest, and Lake Mulwala, our region is rich in natural beauty.
Visitors and locals love to fish, paddle and swim, explore the towns and enjoy local produce.
The draft plan sets out how council will support a thriving, year-round visitor economy over the next three years, supporting about 2710 jobs and building on visitor spend of $315 million.
Its vision is for Moira Shire to be a leading Murray River destination, with distinctive year-round experiences on the water, at the table and in our towns.
The plan was developed in consultation with the tourism industry, including workshops with local businesses across the shire.
It supports the Council Plan’s commitment to a diverse and dynamic economy and the Moira 2045 Community Vision of a thriving, connected regional community.
Chair administrator Graeme Emonson said tourism supported local jobs and helped our towns thrive.
“This plan aims to help more people discover Moira Shire, give visitors more to do in every season and connect our businesses,” he said.
“This plan has been shaped with industry, and now we want to hear from the wider community.
“Your feedback will help us build a destination that delivers for everyone, all year round.”
