Dookie careers day offers insight into food and fibre

Victoria’s future farmers got a taste of country life at the 2026 Food & Fibre Careers Day, held at the University of Melbourne’s Dookie Campus on May 29.

More than 450 secondary students from across the state descended on the campus for a day of hands-on workshops and live demonstrations.

The event spanned the whole agriculture industry, with representatives from dairy, livestock, horticulture, crop production and the latest in AgTech.

From drone demonstrations to getting up close with livestock, the event gave young people a first-hand look at the careers that feed and clothe the nation, and the opportunities they have in agriculture.
