Residents enjoyed this year’s dance-a-thon, raising money as part of the Dance against Dementia movement, with a 1950s rock and roll theme.
An Estia Health spokesperson said members of the Benalla Social Dance Group volunteered their time and gave residents and family members a spectacular dance performance, grooving to some classic hits.
Classic rock and roll was the order of the day at a special fundraiser at Estia Health Benalla recently.
“Residents danced along with the music with staff and family, recalling fond memories of going to dances or even of meeting their wife or husband at a dance,” the spokesperson said.
“A gold coin donation and a raffle were held, with all (money raised) going towards creating more social (umbrella) dementia cafés nationwide, while also helping to bring more community awareness about dementia and the importance of music and dance to improve brain health and wellbeing.”
There were classic moves to be seen on the Estia Health dancefloor as residents and families raised money for an important cause.
To support this vital cause and make a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia, please consider donating to Dance Against Dementia.
