Adding to the prize pool this year is the addition of a second boat prize package.
The major prize - decided by random entry draw - is a AnglaPro STL 394 boat fitted with a Yamaha F25 engine, and trailer, valued at $15,490 and supplied by Deniliquin Yamaha.
Deniliquin Yamaha has also supplied a AnglaPro 354 boat with Yamaha 15Hp electric start motor valued at almost $14,000, which is first prize in the raffle.
You don’t have to land a fish to win either boat, but to win the major prize you must at least be registered.
And last year’s boat winner Scott O’Keefe said it’s such a great weekend, why wouldn’t you want to be registered.
“It’s not just fun, it’s for a good cause too.
“The organisers put every dollar made back into the health of the river, and overall it’s just a bloody good weekend.
“A mate encouraged me to enter last year, and to walk away with a boat was a good score really.
“I had always wanted one like it, but I couldn’t really afford one.
“It was the first time I’d been to a fishing comp in Deni and it was so well run with bang for your buck - most of your meals are included in the price, and camping was easy and readily available.”
Mr O’Keefe, who is from Bendigo, is already registered again for this year, and encourages others to jump on board and get their tickets.
A capped event, only 300 anglers plus sponsors will get the opportunity to participate in the 2024 challenge from February 16-18.
Activities are centred on Deniliquin Memorial Park, adjacent the Edward River.
Entry tickets are selling fast, with the majority coming from outside the local area so far.
Tickets are $155 per adult, which includes the opportunity to fish, win some great prizes, entry in the Sunday morning Dash for Cash and most of your meals for the weekend. Junior tickets are also available for $110.
But you don’t have to be an angler to support the overall aim of the fishing challenge.
Every $5 ticket sold in the Deniliquin Yamaha sponsored major raffle represents another two fingerlings released into local waterways.
In addition to the boat prize, you could pick up a $3,950 Yamaha YFZ50 49cc kids’ automatic quad bike or a a $1,300 STIHL garden care package.
