State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland welcomed the strong turnout at two Farm Drought Support Grant drop-in sessions at her Benalla office.
Farmers were supported to complete $5000 grant applications.
Ms Cleeland said the response shows how vital practical help is when the process is confusing.
“These grants are not perfect, but they help with real on-farm costs,” she said.
“That includes water infrastructure, stock containment, fodder and grain storage, water carting, and pasture re-seeding.
“I am so pleased eight local families are now on the way to receiving support they are entitled to.”
Ms Cleeland thanked Jim Moll and Tony Flett from AgBiz Assist for their hands-on help.
“Jim and Tony made sure every farmer who came through the door left with their application under way. Their expertise and commitment were invaluable.”
If you missed the sessions and need help with your application, Ms Cleeland urged eligible farmers to contact her office.
“While recent rain has brought some relief, farmers are still carrying the heavy financial burden left behind by the long dry spell.”
