The Christmas Snail Trail, part of a shop local at Christmas campaign by the Benalla Business Network, has given winners a bit more than they bargained for.

The campaign was organised in collaboration with the economic development department at Benalla Rural City Council, offering Benalla Business Dollars as prizes.
BBN had provided 12 prizes of $20 for each winner.
Olivia Preston was excited to find out her $20 snail trail prize had been increased to $200.

Benalla Business Dollars have been relaunched as digital dollars, available through a range of businesses throughout Benalla.
BBN treasurer Karen Nankervis said the BBN dollars were organised through a company called Why Leave Town.
“And they have now, very generously increased the $20 prize to $200 each, for the first three winners,” she said.
BBN Committee member Annette Borrodale said the first three winners, Olivia Preston, Katie Raeburn and Desley Auld, were excited to hear the news.
“We were so lucky to have ‘Why leave Town’ increase the prize to $200,” she said.
The way the Snail Trail works is when people see a Snail Trail painting in a local business’ window they can scan the QR code and enter the draw for a prize.
“It’s a fantastic initiative that BBN has put in place,” Ms Borrodale said.
“Hopefully, the big prize sparks a bit of excitement from other people who are doing the snail trail.”
Local student Olivia Preston, who attends Wangaratta Specialist School, was one of the lucky recipients of the $200 prize.
“When I thought it was $20 I was very excited,” she said.
Olivia said she wasn’t sure where she was going to spend the money, but said she might look for a nice Christmas present for her mum.
