Collectors, history buffs and proud Goulburn Valley residents, past and present, will be given a rare opportunity to snap up a piece of the region’s past in a unique auction.

The Shepparton Heritage Centre’s inventory is overflowing with donated historical items and memorabilia that it has received throughout the years, but now it is time to declutter the museum’s storage spaces.
There will be Furphy water cart ends under the hammer.

“As our collection continues to grow, there are some items that, while valuable and appreciated, fall outside the scope of what we can preserve and display,” Shepparton Heritage Centre executive officer Kristy Rudd said.

“We are holding a heritage surplus clearance sale to ensure these treasures still find a meaningful place.”

Mrs Rudd said each contribution reflected a deep respect for the region’s past and a shared commitment to preserving Shepparton’s story for future generations.

“Every item offered for sale has been carefully assessed as surplus to our collection but remains worthy of appreciation and new custodianship,” she said.

Proceeds from the auction will directly support the ongoing work of the Shepparton Heritage Centre, helping it care for, conserve and share the history of the region.
A gig will be up for auction.

In addition to the clearance sale, there will be a second-hand history books and map stall, CWA cake stall, barbecue and coffee van.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 19, at the Shepparton Heritage Centre in Welsford St.

Gates open at 9am at the Welsford St site, before the auction begins at 10am. Kevin HIcks REal Estate is handling the auction.
