A heat wave may have impacted on Australia Day celebrations earlier this year, but has allowed for another great community event to take place.

With the weather on January 26 too extreme to allow for Murrumbidgee Council’s traditional Jerilderie fireworks display to go ahead, the already purchased fireworks were instead held in storage for a more appropriate time.
That time has now come, with a special event being hosted next Saturday, March 28.
The Australia Day Committee has confirmed a full evening program will now proceed, offering families a relaxed night by the lake in cooler conditions.
Festivities will begin from 6.30pm, free entertainment, a spinning wheel and live music from Ray McCartney.
There will be food available to purchase, and glow‑in‑the‑dark products for sale. Please note this a cash only event.
All money raised will contribute to the next Australia Day fireworks display.
The fireworks are expected to start about 8.30pm and Powell St will be closed from the eastern end near the IGA for the duration of the event.
