Mr Littleproud hailed the work of Ms Neville throughout discussions about the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, when answering a question about the communication that he will have with Victorian ministers in relation to what he heard at the summit.
‘‘As I’ve demonstrated, for the first time in our nation’s history we’ve got agreement with the states and Commonwealth,’’ he said.
‘‘We’re actually collaborating and working together and I put my hand up and say Lisa Neville did a great job.
‘‘She worked with me to get outcomes — the best outcomes we possibly could with the plan we had.
‘‘I’m happy to work with Lisa and with Niall (Blair) and any state minister ... I get the pain but we’ve also got to acknowledge some of the leadership that’s been shown by the states as well.
‘‘I’m going to continue to work with people like Lisa Neville because — you know what I think? — Lisa and the rest of the basin state ministers are looking for outcomes and that’s what the Australian people want out of us.’’
