Co-organiser of the Nagambie event Elisha Basse says the daytime event — featuring a lunch, entertainment, guest speakers, prizes and gifts — is for anyone who wants to meet and connect with others.
And despite its name suggesting the event is just for women, that’s not necessarily the case.
Ms Basse said the wider national event was founded by her childhood friend, Jackie Elliot, with whom she used to show cattle.
Ms Elliot was inspired to create the event after moving to a rural area where she didn’t know anybody.
Now, Rural Women’s Day events are held right across Australia, from Ballarat to Darwin and Rockhampton to Nagambie.
The Nagambie event has been running annually since 2022, where it was held in the tower at Mitchelton Wines.
It set a precedent for delightful locations, and this year’s, in what Ms Basse has described as a “beautiful facility at Morningside”, will be inside a barn.

Local musician Briana Lee will provide the live soundtrack to the three-course lunch, featuring canapés, a main meal and dessert.
Guests will not only have the chance to taste wines from Box Grove Vineyard, Fowles Winery and Tar & Roses Wine, but also hear the winemakers behind those wines — Sarah Gough, Tegan Clydesdale and Narelle King — speak.
“What I love about these women is that they all champion each other and they do lots of collaboration,” Ms Basse said.
Laura Benbow from Apiary Made, whose products from the Goulburn Valley-Murrindindi area get sold in Harrods stores on the other side of the world, will also speak about her life and journey on the day, as well as showcase some of her products.
“It’s all about creating those connections and celebrating each other,” Ms Basse said.
Tickets to the event between 11am and 4pm on Friday, October 17, are $145 and also include take-home gift bags. They can be booked through Humantix at: tinyurl.com/mryfaes6
