Picola United couldn’t build any momentum against a quality Katamatite outift.

Picola United fell to a heavy defeat at Katamatite Recreation Reserve, outclassed by the contending Tigers.

Katamatite dominated the Picola District Football League home fixture from start to finish, setting the tone early with a 9.4 (58) to 1.1 (7) first term.

The lead was above 60 after a low-scoring second quarter, but the Tigers found their scoring form again after the main break, piling on the goals to relegate the Blues to a 221.3 (145) to 4.3 (27) defeat.

Hayden Brown and Jared Laffy both slotted two majors for Picola, the bright spots punctuating an otherwise disappointing afternoon for their side.

For Katamatite, Thomas Clurey dominated with six goals, followed closely by Mitchell Coleman with five.

The Blues remain rooted to 12th position on the league now 4-1-8.

Picola can still improve their position a couple of places should they find their way back to the winners list over the last few games, but are unlikely to fall any further with a significant gap to the sides below.

The Blues will host the unbeaten league-leader Katandra this weekend.
