Complete performance sees Bombers to victory

The hosts won the first term 25-18, and scored 25 points again in the second, with Elmore offering 13 in reply as Leitchville held an 8.2 (50) to 5.1 (31) lead at half-time.

Like the first, Leitchville booted one more major and seven more points than Elmore in the third, with a comeback for the struggling Bloods a tall order entering the fourth as they trailed by 26.

Joel Donehue’s side would not let go of the rope in the final term, as the fourth quarter was a repeat of the second, Leitchville winning 25-13 and gradually building its lead over the day in a 15.6 (96) to 9.4 (58) triumph.

The victory was important for the Bombers as they not only returned to winning ways, but moved back above Lockington-Bamawm United and into the last finals spot.

The Cats served the bye in round 16 and Leitchville had a game in hand, with the two sides now having played 14 matches.

Only the Bombers and Lockington are in the hunt for fifth, both with a 7-7 record, with Leitchville holding a marginally better percentage.

Leitchville travels to North Bendigo next before a final round clash with White Hills, while the Cats face Colbinabbin and Elmore.
