The league has revealed a lower attendance and gate to last year despite pristine weather conditions and blockbuster matches in the football and netball.

AFL Goulburn Murray operations manager Jo Spencer revealed it was a lower crowd to last year, however the league was happy with the spectator behaviour and the action that played out on the oval and court.

“It was a magical day. We couldn’t have asked for better weather,” Spencer said.

“The crowds were fantastic; they were well-behaved and there were no issues with behaviour. The total number was down on last year, but it was to be expected when you consider we didn’t have the under-16s competition this year.

“Kids aged under 14 also went free and that no doubt would have impacted final gate takings.

This year’s grand final day gate taking is the second largest in the past six years.
