He backed up his recent success at local club level with a solid performance at the Association Championships held on Wednesday at Rich River Croquet Club.
James, a Level 2 association croquet player, has been a key figure in Goulburn Valley Croquet Association (GVCA) circles for decades.
His experience has helped guided him to three consecutive GVCA premierships, a run that has highlighted his skill and consistency.
At 89, James continues to compete in both team and individual formats.
His appearance at the Rich River championships demonstrates his ongoing commitment to the sport beyond club level, and he will again represent the region at Country Week in Ballarat from March 30 to April 1.
The event brings together 12 areas competing for the Victorian country state title.
