This time, talented left footballer Maddison Ibrahim has made the initial summer training hub squad for the Under 18 Vic Country side.
It caps off an excellent year for Maddi, who took out her club’s (Murray Felines) best-and-fairest award after she also took out the north-east and Border Female Football League’s under 17 best-and-fairest and shared the Murray Bushranger runners-up award.
Earlier this year, fellow Felines teammates and Yarrawonga-based footballer Hannah Loughnan played in the National under-16 competition for the Vic Country team, and Paige Duffy made the under-18 Vic Country Squad.
This year’s squad will participate in two high-performance training camps across December and January to best prepare players for the 2024 Coates Talent League season.
The first camp for the Victoria Country girls’ squad will be held on December 18-19 at The Hangar, home of the Essendon Football Club. The second camp will be conducted at Federation University Ballarat from January 23-25.
The Victoria Country squad features representatives from each of the six Coates Talent League country programs – Bendigo Pioneers, Dandenong Stingrays, Geelong Falcons, Gippsland Power, GWV Rebels and Murray Bushrangers.
Players selected in the summer training hubs will engage in football and wellbeing programs and will also be provided with individual development plans.
Victoria Country and Victoria Metro will conduct trial matches in April ahead of the National Championships, with additional players to be added to both squads for the trial games.
The announcement of the Victoria Country and Victoria Metro girls summer training hub squads follows last week’s announcement of the boys’ squads.
