The Cats kept it close for a half at Lockington Recreation Reserve, but eventually the Mount Pleasant proved too powerful, bursting away in the final term to win 75-39.
The opening period had only five goals in it, as Mount Pleasant led the way 14-9 at the first break.
The second term was equally tight, and the Mounts added only two to their lead before half-time, holding a seven-goal advantage at the main interval.
The visitors put the foot down after the break and doubled their advantage in the third term and, with Lockington spirits finally broken, the fourth became a 27-5 rout as Mount Pleasant eventually earned the comfortable victory.
The Cats have gotten off to a winless start to 2026, unsuccessful in three outings.
The side has had one of the most difficult draws so far, Lockington’s three opponents a combined 8-2.
That trend turns around this coming weekend as the Cats will travel to fellow winless side Heathcote.
