Star galloper Mutsuhito saluted last week, and yesterday in Deniliquin, maiden Larza City wrapped up its first win in a $12,000 maiden plate over 1400m.
Today the stable is headed for Horsham with Tapo and will be on its home track Monday with Here Comes Wozza.
Mick Johnstone said Larza City was bred in Elmore by its patient owner Narelle Dess.
“Very patient owner,” Johnstone said.
“She is a six-year-old mare, but this win was only her fifth start, she has spent a bit of time in the paddock,” he said.
“With Nathan Punch in the saddle, Larza City overcame a start from the widest barrier, quickly crossing the field to take the lead and was never headed.
“And Narelle was over the moon with the win, and I would not be surprised if she had a big night.”
The stable and owner are considering whether to take the horse to Berrigan in two weeks or targeting Echuca’s Melbourne Cup day meeting.
Wozza won a $55,000 Maiden at Echuca on March 8 but has been given a spell since then.
Johnstone said the Echuca win was from a first up on Echuca Cup day , and with three seconds and a fourth under his belt, the gelding is expected to be a big chance tomorrow.
