Murray Irrigation Ltd shareholders have opted to keep their independent directors.
At a meeting of the southern NSW irrigation company on Wednesday, April 10, a majority of shareholders voted not to remove the two directors.
The vote follows weeks of debate across a range of issues involving the irrigation company.
Three directors — Steve Fawns, Troy Mauger and Brendan Barry — requisitioned the vote to remove Trisha Gorman and Robert Burbury.
The vote to remove Mrs Gorman recorded 552 for and 740 against.
The vote to remove Mr Burbury recorded 543 for and 745 against.
In the lead up to the general meeting, the requisitioning directors said they would resign from the board if the votes were lost.
The meeting was told that the trio made a request to withdraw those resignations the night before the vote, but expert advice sought by the company said the commitments were “irrevocable”.
