Dairy workshops to explore seasonal variability and trends

By Alana Christensen

Managing a productive dairy farming business through seasonal variability, understanding forecasts, key drivers and trends that can assist with decision making will be the focus of a number of free workshops next week.

The Agriculture Victoria-run workshop will provide an overview of the climatic drivers for northern Victoria and regionally specific forecasts that farmers can access to assist planning and making decisions on their properties.

Topics covered include seasonal outlook, what's normal, what isn't and what might be next, understanding forecasts and insights for managing climate risk in dairy and different production systems.

Agriculture Victoria's Dale Grey and the Agriculture Victoria dairy extension team will present the workshop and also discuss support available to farming families.

Workshops will take place at the following locations:

  • Hurleys Hotel at 217-219 Allan St, Kyabram on Monday, May 6 from 10am to 11.30am.
  • Shamrock Hotel at 5-13 Melville St, Numurkah on Monday, May 6 from 1pm to 2.30pm
