Their stud’s open day as part of 2019 Beef Week will be held on Sunday, January 27 and High Spa’s focus will be on bulls.
Brian said it was pleasing to welcome many new faces to their open day in 2018 along with return clients, and he encourages all those with an interest in breeding solid performing Angus cattle to visit High Spa in 2019.
‘‘Bulls for maiden heifers are always keenly sought after for May/June joining, along with bigger growth bulls for established cow herds,’’ he said.
‘‘There will be plenty of both available in a variety of ages.’’
The stud currently has an elite young bull in The Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP), High Spa M8 (a Sydgen Trust son) to assess how he performs with the additional data created from being used in the program.
Brian said there might also be one or two yearling M8 sons available at the open day, along with some ‘‘super’’ bulls from Hoover Dam, LT Drifter, Reserve and Trust, and some High Spa paddock sires that were throwing male progeny every bit as excellent at growing, powerful and stylish as those descended from more renowned AI sires.
A lucky gate prize will also be on offer to one lucky visitor who walks through the gate on the day.
Brian said every animal on display and for sale would have detailed pedigree and EBV information available.
The mantra at High Spa is that a bull must ‘‘look’’ his figures so visitors are invited to pick their bull out on paper by examining background pedigree and EBVs on High Spa’s website at: www.highspa.com.au
High Spa Angus will open its gates on Sunday, January 27, 45 Lyman St, Daylesford.
