ACM’s Girgarre factory processed its first milk last week. Organic milk, milk powder, cream and butter are set to follow in the coming months. Civil works will also commence on a new cheese plant in the coming months.
SHEPPARTON HOME OF SEED FORCE:
Seed Force opened its new national headquarters at Shepparton last week. The $4million facility includes a manufacturing plant which processes seeds to sell to retailers. Half of the 30 national employees will be based in Shepparton.
BANK CLOSURES FOR TOWNS:
Westpac has announced the closure of 22 branches across the country, including in Benalla and Kangaroo Flat.
The bank said it made the decision following a decline in the number of people accessing branches, with less than two per cent of transactions occurring through a branch.
CALLS FOR FARM DEBT SCHEME:
The royal commissioner inquiring into banking and the financial services industry has urged the Commonwealth to introduce a national scheme for farm debt mediation.
The scheme requires banks and other creditors to offer mediation to farmers before taking enforcement action against farm property, including the farm itself and farm machinery.
NEW G-MW CHIEF:
Newly-appointed Goulburn-Murray Water chair Charmaine Quick began her role last week.
A qualified engineer and senior manager, Ms Quick was appointed to lead the water corporation following the sudden departure of the previous incumbent last year.
