The Victorian Murray system hit 100 per cent of high-reliability water shares from its previous level of 90 per cent.
The Broken system moves from 53 per cent HRWS to 72 per cent HRWS.
The Campaspe system remains at 100 per cent HRWS but increases from 62 per cent of low-reliability water shares to 63 per cent LRWS.
Seasonal determinations in the Goulburn, Loddon and Bullarook systems remain unchanged at 100 per cent HRWS. Bullarook (100 per cent) and Campaspe (63 per cent) are the only systems with LRWS allocations.
Northern Victoria resource manager Mark Bailey said redistributions of the stored resources contributed to the increases announced on August 15.
“Deductions from spillable water accounts produced the increased seasonal determinations in the Murray and Campaspe systems,” Dr Bailey said.
“The improvement in the Broken system came from reduced loss commitments for the season.
“About 165 gigalitres will be deducted from Murray spillable water accounts today, which is 28 per cent of the overall volume.
“The deducted volume in the Campaspe system is about 1 Gl or four per cent the volume in spillable accounts.
“Approximately 21 Gl, or five per cent, will be deducted from Goulburn spillable water accounts.
“Releases to manage the rate of fill from Lake Eildon are not required at present and further deductions will only occur if Goulburn-Murray Water resumes filling management operations.”

The resource manager uses historical flow records to assess the seasonal determinations for a range of inflows to the major storages.
Trading opportunities
Allocation trade from NSW to Victoria is limited to the lesser of a net annual volume of 200 Gl or a volume that keeps the risk of spill in the Victoria’s share of the both Hume and Dartmouth reservoirs below 50 per cent.
As Victoria’s share of Hume and Dartmouth is close to full, trade from NSW to Victoria is not possible. The volume available for trade is updated with each risk of spill announcement.

The Murray-Darling Basin Authority has announced that trading of water allocations from above the Barmah Choke to downstream of the Choke is restricted to protect the delivery of downstream water entitlements.

The next 2023-24 seasonal determination announcement will be released on Friday, September 1.
