According to John Hyett, who wrote about it as part of a university honours thesis, a blacksmith shop was established on the site in Haley St, Strathbogie in 1894.

Albert Price bought the property in 1920 and so began a long connection with the site, until his death in 1987.
The building is on the Victorian Heritage Register.
