A soil trial on Ross Heywood’s Congupna farm will be open to all farmers and interested soil-types on Thursday, June 24.

The trial is trying to discover what the best stubble management strategy is to build organic matter in the local soil.

The farm walk will host Agriculture Victoria senior irrigation officer Nick O’Halloran and Irrigated Cropping Council trials manager Damian Jones.

Participants can expect to learn about identifying and rectifying constraints in their cropping systems and ways to improve their soils.

Irrigated Cropping Council executive officer Charlie Aves said the group was excited to be back out in the paddock and talking soil.

“This soil pit discussion offers an opportunity for everyone to hear directly from key research scientists about local trials and strategies that can be used on-farm,” Ms Aves said.

The farm walk will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 24. RSVP is essential due to COVID-safe number limits.
