The Strathbogie township will come alive for a series of events around Melbourne Cup Day this year.
The Strathbogie Golf Club will host its Melbourne Cup Day spectacular with meats, salads and ‘Bogie’ desserts. Patrons are invited to dress up with bold colours and hats.
The festivities start at noon on Tuesday, November 5.
On the weekend prior to Cup Day, a market day will spread out along the Strathbogie Recreation Reserve, on Sunday, November 3 from 9.30am. Local produce, arts and crafts will be available.
On the night of Saturday, November 2, the Briagolong Bush Band will perform at a bush dance and supper at the Strathbogie hall.
For something different, try the Bollywood Extravaganza on Sunday, November 3 at the Strathbogie Recreation Reserve.
This year’s themed feast is a three-course Indian dinner.
Shared grazing-style menu on tables of eight. Drinks at bar prices.
This event will raise much-needed funds for Strathbogie community groups.
An auction will be held on the night.
