Founded in 2018 by sixth-generation Victorian farmer Grant Sims, DownUnderAg has grown out of nearly 20 years of on-farm experience with multi-species pastures and cover crops.
Mr Sims said the business was established to help farmers access diverse, untreated seed mixes that were previously difficult to source.
Working closely with clients, DownUnderAg designs tailored seed blends enhanced with biological primers to improve soil health, plant resilience and overall farm productivity.
Its systems are tested on the company’s own large-scale farming operation, ensuring they are practical and commercially viable.
“We’re not just a seed company ... we’re farmers doing it ourselves, then helping others make it work,” Mr Sims said.
By focusing on plant diversity, the approach aims to reduce reliance on synthetic fertilisers and chemicals, while maintaining profitability and long-term sustainability.
