Hay run from Yarroweyah lifts spirits

‘‘We’re heading to Moree just south of Queensland-NSW border as it has the highest level of drought,’’ he said.

‘‘There’s pretty much two intense drought areas and we already have been to the other one around Anzac Day.’’

With hay at a minimum, Mr Cockerell said most of the hay they were delivering had been bought.

‘‘There’s not much donated hay at all. Mostly it has been bought from money donations.’’

Mr Cockerell said although there was not enough hay for every farm they were visiting, the hay run was a way of ‘‘helping people who are doing it tougher than we are’’.

‘‘Some of them have been battling drought for two years and we’ll have time to chat with them and let them know that somebody cares.

‘‘It will be good to lift their spirits seeing a load of hay come up their driveway.’’
