Greater Shepparton City Council’s draft Economic Development, Visitor Economy, and Major Events Strategy (EDVEMES) 2024-28 is a five-year road map to guide regional growth and development for Greater Shepparton.
Developed with insights from consulting firm Urban Enterprise, the strategy includes research and feedback from stakeholders, council departments, and the public for a balanced approach.
Some of the plan’s key objectives are to increase local spending, create jobs, improve resident satisfaction, and attract more business and infrastructure investments.
The strategy also aims to boost the visitor economy and maximise the economic impact of tourism and events in the area.
Mayor Shane Sali encouraged community members to read and share their thoughts on the draft document.
“(This draft strategy) aims to achieve long-term and sustainable growth through a resilient and productive community, business base, tourism industry and event sector,” he said.
“We particularly want to know the community’s thoughts on the five-year plan, what they like, what they are most excited about and if they think there is anything missing from the draft strategy.”
The draft EDVEMES is now open for public consultation and feedback until Sunday, July 7.
All feedback will be reviewed before the final strategy is adopted at a future council meeting.
