The durability of two ageing bridges at Corop’s Wallenjoe Swamp will be upgraded as part of the Victorian Government's bridge strengthening projects on the Midland Hwy.
Victorian Roads Minister Ben Carroll said the Labor Government was investing $10 million across regional Victoria to upgrade bridges through its Building Works package.
“We’re getting on with these projects to strengthen bridges in northern Victoria to help Victorian workers and keep the economy moving,” Mr Carroll said.“Whether it’s workers on the ground or in the supply chain — we’re upgrading these bridges to support jobs and keep our freight moving.”
Upgrades range from full bridge replacements and foundation strengthening, to drainage repairs and road surface improvements. The package is part of a $124 million Labor Government investment to fix more roads and help communities impacted by coronavirus, with upgrades set to support about 300 regional Victorian jobs.State Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said now was the time to support the hardest hit communities.“These projects will help keep tradies on the ground and ensure vital bridges continue to connect our hard-working regional primary producers and freight operators,” Mr Gepp said. For more information about Victoria's road improvement works, visit: www.regionalroads.vic.gov.au
