The expo presents an opportunity for garden lovers of all abilities to learn, mingle and celebrate the joy of planting.
The expo will be divided across two separately ticketed days.
The first — on Sunday, March 20 — will be held from 10am to 4pm at Marong Station, north of Deniliquin.
Ms Thomson will host two informative workshops — ‘Gardening for health and wellbeing’ from 10.30am and ‘How to drought-proof your garden’ at 12.30pm.
She will be available during the day to mingle and answer any burning questions.
Local businesses and gardeners will host stalls on the day, including Bonsai Bob, Leaves & Vines Nursery and Naponda Store. The Gormans will also be there with their native plants.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included in the ticket price, which is $75 for general admission and $65 for concession holders. Under-12s receive free entry, but will be required to pay for lunch.
On Monday, March 21, Ms Thomson will be at the Deniliquin Community Garden, in Whitelock St, Deniliquin.
This session’s workshop, starting at 10.30am, will be ‘Growing your own’ and tips on composting.
It will be followed by a scarecrow competition, featuring contributions from the public and local schools, with Ms Thomson announcing the winners.
Entrants can register by contacting the Deniliquin Community Garden.
Tickets are $40, with under-12s again free. Morning tea and coffee is available to purchase.
Proceeds will be used to support Deniliquin Hospital, for items that improve patient and staff wellbeing.
The 2022 Garden Expo is supported and funded by grants from Edward River Council and the Deniliquin Community Group.
Limited tickets are available. Tickets for both events can be purchased at the Naponda Store in Cressy St, Deniliquin, or online. Go to www.eventbrite.com.au or search ‘Naponda’ and then select the event you wish to attend.
