Local farmers and community members are invited to come together for a well-deserved break at Farmer’s Day Out – a free event focused on connection, wellbeing, and resilience for those living and working on the land.
Former AFL player Justin Koschitzke and former Army Commander James Greenfields will speak at the event.
“Everybody’s welcome, if you’re in the agriculture industry and just want to touch base, or see how local farmers that you are communicating with are going,” organiser Genevieve Gleadow said.
“It’s just a great opportunity to get together, have some lunch, acknowledge that it’s been a tough time in our region with weather events, also tariffs that have been talked about internationally and then also commodity prices.
“It’s just worth having a day off, have a couple of hours, come talk to some people, we’ve got great guest speakers coming to talk about resilience and country life and a bit of a laugh.
“I’m sure the dynamic duo will hit some heavy topics, but also make it enjoyable so that the guests can carry on to have a few drinks, watch some footy and spark conversation with friends or new people they meet.”
Benalla will host the event on Saturday, August 23 which will also include a match between the Benalla Saints and the Mansfield Eagles.
“We know that rural life can be incredibly isolating, especially during tough times,” organiser Liz Hayes said.
“This day is about reminding our farmers they’re not alone, and that there is strength in sharing stories and leaning on each other.”
The event will also include free BBQ and drinks, giveaways and prizes and access to support services and wellbeing resources.
