An allegedly speeding driver was intercepted by police on the Hume Hwy on Thursday, October 26.
A Lexus was travelling through Longwood East when it was detected allegedly travelling at 178km/h in a 110km/h zone about 2pm.
Police intercepted the driver, a 42-year-old man from Geelong, who allegedly provided a breath test of .284.
He was unlicensed and had his car impounded for 30 days.
The driver was issued an immediate driving ban.
It is expected he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
