Over the past month, thieves twice broke into the storage area beneath the old pump house building, where the market committee stores marquees, tables and chairs for the event.
The stolen items include a red, branded ‘Echuca Farmers’ Market’ marquee and a white 8m by 4m marquee, with a combined value of about $5000.
Echuca Farmers’ Market president and market manager Tim Harley said that as a not-for-profit organisation that gave so much back to the community it was disheartening to lose these assets.
Mr Harley is looking for any community members with a trailer that are able to help with transporting the tables and chairs to the market site, after the committee had to change storage locations.
The committee is appealing for anyone with information about the stolen marquees to come forward and report it to the police, who are investigating the thefts.
Anyone with information regarding the stolen marquees is urged to contact Echuca police on 5483 1500, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or anonymously at crimestoppersvic.com.au
Community members able to help with transporting tables and chairs are asked to contact echfarmkt@gmail.com.
