The majority are dairy farmers, while another five are industry workers who have put up their hands to complete the panel.
KyValley Dairy director and Byrneside farmer Peter Mulcahy is the only northern Victorian member of the panel.
The Levy Poll Advisory Committee hopes Mr Mulcahy will be able to provide a northern Victorian perspective as an industry worker, since no local farmers applied to serve on the panel.
The committee is expected to make a decision regarding the levy by June 2021.
In the event a change to the levy is recommended, this process will extend to 2022.
Other panel members include Dairy Australia directors Tania Luckin and Roseanne Healy alongside Australian Dairy Farmers directors Rick Gladigau and Victoria Taylor.
Panellists selected to represent dairy farmers are: Brendan Rae, Karrinjeet Singh-Mahil and Daryl Hoey (all from Victoria); Heath Cook (NSW); Matthew Trace (Queensland); Andrew Cavill (SA); Peter Evans (WA); and Katrina Gofton and Andrew Aldridge (Tasmania).
LPAC independent chair Ron Storey said there had been a strong level of high quality nominations and he was delighted in the grass-roots input.
“We have a balance of representation across dairy regions, years of farming experience, herd sizes and owners vs sharefarmer experiences,” Mr Storey said.
“The LPAC will now get to business and review the levy.”
The dairy service levy is collected from dairy farmers in order to fund services provided by Dairy Australia.
The levy is reviewed every five years by a majority dairy farmer panel.
