Water advocacy group Speak Up has been the beneficiary of last year’s Deniliquin Truck Show, with the truck show committee donating $3000 from last year’s event to the campaign.
Speak Up chair Shelley Scoullar said the group appreciated the support.
‘‘It costs a lot of money to run our organisation; there is a huge volunteer commitment to our work, but there are also various costs which we face,’’ she said.
‘‘Events like our crisis rally in August and the December rally in Melbourne can be expensive to run. This money will be put to good use and help keep Speak Up afloat in 2019.’’
Deniliquin Truck Show vice-president John Creenaune said his committee heard about the work of Speak Up and believed it would be a worthwhile recipient of funds.
‘‘Each year we give back to our community,’’ Mr Creenaune said.
‘‘Speak Up supports the region’s agricultural sector, and that is where many local trucking businesses generate their income.
‘‘A successful farming sector leads to a more prosperous business community, especially in trucking.’’
■The 2019 Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo will be held in late October at Memorial Park, with the annual truck show dinner the evening before at Deniliquin RSL.
