The company also won Best Custom Home ($1 million to $2 million) and Best Renovation/Addition ($500,000 to $750,000) at the MBV Northern Regional Building Awards on Friday, July 17.
JVB owner and builder Jesse Vella said the recognition came as a surprise.
“We won the two awards that we'd entered into,” he said.
“We were hopeful. We had a good feeling. But I didn't expect to take out builder of northern Victoria at all.”
Out of the three years JVB has attended the awards, this was their best night.
“Last year we came home empty handed. We’ve redeemed ourselves this year,” Mr Vella said with a smile.
He said it was great to have the whole team at the awards to celebrate.
“After all, it's been a huge team effort.”
The team celebrated at the awards ceremony at The Sebel in Yarrawonga together. Pictured are Steph Edgar, Josh Stone, Jordan Selva, Brit Selva, B’ashae Vella, Jesse Vella, Jordan Gee, Ellie Steward, Coby James, Declan Begley, Lachlan Deane and Isaac Cox.

Mr Vella said the company’s success came down to the strong relationships within the team, particularly with construction manager Jordan Selva, who he has worked with for over a decade.
“Jordan and I did our apprenticeships alongside each other locally.”
“Having that trust is huge. I don’t know how I would do it without Jordan to be honest. And the same goes for the rest of the team, that trust all flows down.”
For Mr Vella, the recognition and feedback they have received through the awards and their customers means a lot.
“The quality of our work and the relationships we’re building with clients are our priority.”
“We've got great relationships with both owners of the projects (that won), and they speak highly of living in their homes, which is really good to hear.”
One of JVB’s award-winning renovations transformed a 1950s farmhouse in Cosgrove, carefully preserving its character while doubling its size.
J Vella Builders won Best Renovation/Addition ($500,000 to $750,000) for this Cosgrove property.

Mr Vella texted homeowners Edwina Dooley and James Harmer as soon as he received the award.
Ms Dooley said the recognition was well-deserved.
“It’s brought lots of people joy to see the house brought back to life,” she said.
Built by Mr Harmer's great-grandfather, the family had outgrown the house.
“We added new bedrooms and a new laundry, originally the laundry was on the verandah,” Ms Dooley said with a laugh.
“I’m just really happy for Jesse and B'ashae,” Ms Dooley added.
