Offering a diverse program of artist-led workshops, celebrating collage, mosaic, painting and paper art, the classes are a must for budding creatives.
While Benalla Art Gallery undergoes redevelopment, workshops will be presented at the Pop-Up Benalla Art Gallery, 75 Bridge St East, giving participants the opportunity to learn new skills and create original artworks alongside experienced regional artists.
This series commences this term with Paper Landscapes, inviting participants to explore the art of paper cutting with exhibiting artist Nick Baylart, on October 17.
On Saturday, November 7, Felicite Grogan will lead a ‘Pot Plant Shelfie Collage’ workshop.

This enjoyable afternoon session will see participants hand-paint papers, create miniature paper pot plants and assemble a framed artwork to take home.
This session is suitable for anyone looking to develop their creative confidence and experiment with colour and composition.
For participants aged 15 and over, the workshop is $70 for members, $80 for non-members.
Those with a passion for mosaics will have the opportunity to explore the art form with Kate van Nooten over two sessions, on November 21 and 28.
This two-part program will introduce mosaic design, materials and techniques.
Participants will create their own mosaic artwork using a pre-cut cement-sheet base and a selected colour palette before completing and grouting their piece in the second session.
The two-part session is charged at $180 for members, or $190 for non-members.
The final Art on Saturdays program for 2026 will be ‘Resist Drawing and Painting’ with Pauline Fraser.
Pauline will guide participants to experiment with wax, oil pastel, dyes and mixed media processes in this engaging workshop.
Designed to encourage creative risk-taking and new ways of seeing, participants will explore colour, texture and mark-making while documenting the evolution of their work through photography.
This workshop will be held on Saturday, December 12, charged at $90 for members and $100 for non-members.
Benalla Art Gallery Director Eric Nash said the workshop program connected participants directly with the region’s vibrant artistic community.
“North-east Victoria is home to a remarkable community of artists making exceptional work across a broad range of mediums,” Mr Nash said.
“These workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn directly from professional artists, gain insight into contemporary creative practice and discover the enjoyment of making art.
“Whether you’re an experienced maker or trying something new for the first time, there’s something here for everyone.”
