Rainfall totals are in for September and it has been a drier-than-usual month across some weather stations in northern Victoria, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Benalla recorded less than half of its September average, with just 25mm recorded, compared to its average of 63mm.
It was a similar story in other towns around the region.
No rain was recorded on all but three days of the month in Shepparton. The city recorded 15.2 mm in September, 30mm below its regular average of 45.2mm.
Kyabram recorded 13mm, well below its regular average of 40.4mm. Meanwhile 12mm of that was recorded on September 5 alone.
Echuca recorded just 9.4mm compared to its average of 38.2mm. Rain was recorded on just three days of the month in the city.
Yarrawonga recorded 11mm, compared to its September average of 42mm.
However a wet start to October is predicted, with parts of the region expected to experience a high chance of rainfall across the early part of the month.
According to long-range forecasts, the south-east of Australia is predicted to experience below-average rainfall between October and December. Most of Australia is also predicted to experience above-average temperatures.
