A meme doing the rounds of social media, criticising Woolworths for its fruit buying policy has been denied by the company.
The meme names SPC as a victim of Woolworths buying policy, but even SPC says the allegations are false.
Woolworths said the social media post has been doing the rounds for some time, and despite the company challenging it, people keep circulating it.
The meme says Woolworths has stopped buying Australian fruit.
A cursory inspection of the fruit section at a Shepparton supermarket shows most of the fruit appears to come from Australian farms.
SPC told Country News: : “There’s nothing in this rumour. SPC’s relationship with Woolworths is better than ever.”
