The event, originally scheduled for Sunday, July 27 has been moved to Sunday, August 31 due to significant rainfall predicted in the days leading up to the event.
The 2025 celebration will take place at Chivalry Dve, Mooroopna, where attendees will be able to enjoy a day outdoors, connect with nature and treat themselves to a free BBQ.
Council staff and dedicated volunteers will be available throughout the morning to guide participants.
All necessary materials, including plants, stakes, guards, mats, gloves, and tools will be provided.
Greater Shepparton City Mayor Shane Sali encouraged families and individuals to mark the calendar and take part in the event.
“We were looking forward to this year’s celebration, but the significant rainfall predicted in the days leading into the event will create unsafe conditions for participants, leading to the decision to postpone,” he said.
“The good news is we’ve locked in a new date on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and we are excited to welcome residents and volunteers for a fantastic day of planting and community spirit in Mooroopna.”
There will be native plant giveaways on the day.
