Murray River Council successfully obtained $103,500 to install new perimeter fencing around the main oval and the Jack Eddy oval.
This is in addition to the $55,000 recently awarded for upgrades to amenities at Jack Eddy and Brick Alley ovals under the same program.
The new works will see the replacement of the existing fencing which has fallen into disrepair.
Murray River Council Mayor Chris Bilkey said the new fencing would ensure the safety of showground users and visitors.
“The recreation reserve is the focal point for community activity and events in Moama so it’s vital that we continue to invest in maintaining all assets that add to the experience for users,” he said.
“The funding is a welcome boost that will enable us to deliver further improvements at the reserve,” he said.
The council also received a $203,000 boost for Wakool Recreation Reserve for new works which will include solar lighting for internal roadways, upgrades to the entrance of the reserve, new bowling green lighting and irrigation upgrades to the main oval.
The pavilion amenities will also receive a facelift with new plumbing fittings, tiling, lighting, roof, floor and wall repairs, and a fresh paint job.
Barham Recreation Reserve was granted $87,500 which will see the installation of perimeter ground seating around the main oval, filtered water stations, upgrades to entrance to the grounds and to the internal road and carpark lighting.
The work will commence in the coming month, with completion expected by October.
