The top-priced bull from the Sydney Easter Show Parade Angus sale has become the chief sire at the Wilkinson family’s cattle stud Mystic Angus at Goorambat.
Throwbridge Fireball T01 won the reserve junior champion at the show and was bought by the family for $17,000.
Peter Wilkinson said the stud’s aim was to produce high-quality seed stock to advance beef production into the future.
“We purchased him for his structure, softness and overall performance,” Mr Wilkinson said.
“With this type of performance, producing commercially profitable bulls for our local area shouldn’t be too hard.”
The 818kg bull will be part of the Wilkinson children’s enterprise on the family property.
Mr Wilkinson said his four children would be taking charge of Angus breeding.
“We are trying to focus that we need young people in agriculture,” he said.
The stud will be offering 40 bulls at its annual spring sale on August 11, featuring the first sons from three of their sires.
