Across the first eight days of spring, Mangalore recorded 19.6mm, the Strathbogie region recorded 16.4mm and Benalla recorded 12.5mm.
While these Victorian places recorded more than 10mm, crops in the Shepparton (8.2mm) and Echuca (4mm) areas missed out on most of the wet weather, with the majority of Shepparton's falls being recorded in the 24 hours up to 9am on September 7.
Across the border, Deniliquin saw 9.8mm fall and Yarrawonga witnessed 7.2mm, as farmers continue to struggle with zero per cent general security water allocation.
In the coming days, temperatures will drop to between 1°C and 4°C in the Northern Country overnight but are likely to warm up to high teens/low 20s during the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology's climate outlook for the remainder of the year is forecasting rainfall to be below average across most of the country.
The outlook also suggests day temperatures are very likely to be above average across the Australian mainland, with neutral odds for most of Tasmania, and nights are likely to be cooler than average in the south-east during October, meaning there may be an increased risk of frost in susceptible areas.
