The work, starting on January 29, will see the existing playground replaced with new equipment designed to cater for a wide range of ages and abilities.
To allow the works to be completed safely, the playground will be closed for about four weeks, with the area inaccessible to the public during construction.
The project will include:
demolition and disposal of the existing play equipment;
site preparation works, including ground levelling and upgrading of the sub-base if required;
installation of a new, locally-themed play unit featuring slides, climbing structures and swings; and
installation of soft fall surfacing to improve safety.
Murray River Council Mayor John Harvie said the upgrade would provide a valuable boost to the recreation reserve.
“Once complete, the upgraded playground will provide improved recreational opportunities and encourage even more community use of the Mathoura Recreation Reserve.
“We hope it will be a welcoming space for local families and visitors and an important asset for the Mathoura community.”
