In a recent opinion piece, experienced rural journalist Sophie Baldwin asked the question which is on the mind of many people across the southern connected system: Why doesn't government policy have farmers’ backs?
I commend rural journalists like Sophie who live among the communities most greatly impacted by disastrous water policy.
Having followed the issue from the get go, she is able to ask the right questions, which our political representatives don't always like.
The emotional drain on those watching and reporting on the destruction of friends, or friends of friends and well known locals, must be taxing.
The weight of researching and highlighting the facts that peak groups and government keep trying to cover up must be heavy.
So a big thank you to Sophie, and the countless others asking the tricky questions, thank you for having our back.
