Not even the cold wind or rain could put a damper on Finley Show Society’s 9th Annual Sheep Dog Trials, held over the King’s Birthday long weekend.

Thirty-five dog triallers from across NSW and Victoria made the journey to Finley with 145 dogs to compete in the three-day event.
Bredbo’s Will Goggin topped the Open competition with Bredbo Scooter, scoring a total of 176 points.
Neilrex’s Ryann Redmond and Croxon Thorn scored a total of 182 in the Improver competition, and Gulgong’s Pip Hudson and Echo Park Gyp won the Novice competition with a score of 172 points.
Meanwhile, Finley’s Josh Everingham and dog Bonnie took out the Encourage competition with 57 points.
Finley Show president Kevin Sexton said it was a great weekend, despite the cold, wet weather.
He thanked the local sponsors, volunteers, and the dog triallers who continue to attend the event each year and make it a success.
Committee members are already thinking ahead to the 2026 event, which will mark 10 years since the first Three-Sheep Dog Trials were held.
There won’t be much rest for members of the Finley Show Society, with preparations for the 107th Finley Show on September 7 well under way.
The show schedule is currently being finalised and will be available mid-July.
